POSITIVE CARBON FOOD WASTE MONITORING SENSORS
PRODUCT FEATURES
- Positive Carbon's food waste monitoring technology for commercial kitchens, uses LiDAR in combination with Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enable real-time, actionable insights to reduce the environmental and economic impact of food waste.
- LIDAR (remote sensing that uses pulsed lasers to measure range)
- RGB (Red, Green, Blue- image processing) data obtained through optical sensors
- Machine learning (ML) to identify foods and attribute density based on the above data
- Infrared sensors to sense state of decomposition in bin
- Wireless communication to the kitchen management for immediate alerts
- Analytics platform for reporting
- Our system enables kitchens to track, monitor and reduce their food waste with zero staff interaction adding the following value:
- Total visibility of Food Waste
- Ability to monitor all waste activity in their business with zero staff interaction or changes in process
- Ability to see environmental impact of food they waste
- Ability to use carbon removal to eliminate their unavoidable waste
- Ability to see cost-impact of the food they waste
- Ability to plan low-carbon meals
- Ability to generate recipes based on wasted Food
- Ability to reduce waste collection pickups
- Ability to run net-zero kitchen which creates zero environmental impact
- Automatically reduce over-purchasing through point of sale integration
- All of this enables the hospitality sector to decarbonise their operations and achieve net-zero whilst increasing their profitability, eliminating their environmental impact, with zero-staff disruption.
- No interaction: Our solution does not require any staff interaction to track food waste after installation. There is no calibration or training stage and staff do not need to confirm the AI's interpretations. The device is connected to a central database of food and food densities, so all devices are constantly training a centralised ML algorithm.
- Seamless integration: No bulky scales or additional steps in a busy kitchen which could lead to low compliance. The device is roughly the size of a fire alarm and sits above the bin, which is the only installation required.
- Automated actions: The analytics platform can automate actions based on insights like reducing orders of regularly wasted food, optimising waste collection frequency, carbon removal and recommending menus based on inventory. To achieve the benefits offered by us, kitchens would have to engage with multiple service providers
