The IFSA Chair has today announced that in light of an offer of alternative dates from RDS, a decision has been taken by the IFSA board to reschedule CATEX to the later dates of 2nd – 4th November 2021.  This decision has been taken for several reasons:

​A multi-million euro fund to help businesses serving food pay for more outdoor seating will be announced later today.

The Licensed Vintners Association (LVA) has called on the Government to provide hope to hospitality and other sectors deemed "non-essential" by announcing a pathway that will facilitate their eventual reopening. ​The LVA said that after the "longest, most severe hospitality lockdown in Europe", the Government now has a responsibility to provide the thousands of people impacted with a general indication of how much longer they will be left in lockdown.

​Galway City Council is to waive charges for cafés, pubs and restaurants with on-street seating, as part of an initiative to assist them through the pandemic.  ​

Around 50 businesses around the city pay for 'Section 254' licences, to allow them use public spaces for customers.
