Connecting smart buildings with smart vehicles has the potential to reduce carbon emissions significantly from employee commutes, which is why workplaces services company Sodexo chose Irish founded up startup Wayleadr for its UK and Ireland Accelerators innovation programme.

Sodexo launched the Accelerators programme in November 2021, partnering with innovation specialists L Marks, inviting applications from start-ups and scale-ups with a focus on employee experience, sustainability, and smart buildings. Over 400 start-ups applied and five, of which Wayleadr was the only Irish one to make the cut, were selected by Sodexo leaders with input from clients. 

EFCEM is the only Commercial Kitchen Equipment Group represented in Brussels by Orgalim, the highly respected voice of the Europe's Technology Industries. Through such high level of representation EFCEM can advocate and influence current legislation while anticipating regulations. 

The federation is active in the formulation of standards for the industry and through its meetings seeks to identify and act on issues of common interest. By being involved within EFCEM, National Associations and their Members benefit form unrivalled technical expertise and resources.

​New figures from the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation show that foreign tourism is recovering as air routes are restored following the worst of the Covid-19 crisis. 

ITIC said total tourist arrivals at Dublin, Cork, and Shannon airports, and disembarkments from ferries, are still down 13% in June from June in 2019, but that the "recovery momentum continues although cost inflation, labour shortages and capacity shortfalls all pose challenges with an uncertain outlook ahead".

​Irish consumers cut back on spending in pubs and restaurants in June, according to new Bank of Ireland figures that suggest inflation is starting to bite.

The bank’s  data are based on spending on its debit and credit cards and show fallbacks for a large range of goods and services in June from May, possibly because households are anticipating paying more for their bills in the autumn and winter.
