Henderson Foodservice has unveiled a new £16 million warehouse facility as part of an ongoing re-development of Henderson Group’s Mallusk complex which began back in 2010. The Foodservice team accelerated the move to the 190,000 square foot ambient and chilled distribution centre to support the hospitality sector as it rolled out a phased opening to the public with the easing of lockdown restrictions. In summary, the survey generally paints a positive picture but financially there are some immediate struggles: Leading workplace services provider Sodexo Ireland is poised to ‘stir up’ corporate food services with the launch of Fooditude and the opening of a new cloud kitchen in Dublin. In December 2020 Sodexo acquired a majority shareholding in Fooditude, one of London’s leading names in ‘delivered-in’ workplace catering. Fooditude has been operating since 2005, with household name clients that include Netflix and Pinterest. A number of Dublin City streets will go traffic free from to-day to facilitate outdoor dining. Capel Street and Parliament Street will go traffic free on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from 6.30pm to 11.30 pm for a period of six weekends on a trial basis. Foodservice company, Pallas Foods, which has been part of the Sysco Group since 2009, has rebranded as Sysco Ireland. The business has seen significant growth in recent years across the island of Ireland, supported by investment of €20m in the expansion and refresh of its delivery fleet and continued transformation of the company’s ecommerce platforms and IT infrastructure. This investment includes an €8m upgrade of the company’s existing site in Newcastle West and new facility in Cork in 2020.
