The board of Irish-Swiss food group Aryzta has nominated Andreas G Schmid for election as its new non-executive chairman at its upcoming Extraordinary General Meeting on September 16. Mr Schmid will succeed Gary McGann who has agreed to step down from the chairman's position. Fáilte Ireland is set to launch its €26 million euro Covid-19 Adaptation Fund this afternoon. The Minister for Tourism Catherine Martin secured the funding as part of the Government's July stimulus package. Grants of up to €15,000 will be available to tourism and hospitality businesses, to offset some of the costs they incurred in adapting their premises for re-opening. The introduction of the new Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme (EWSS) was announced in the Government’s July Stimulus Package. This Scheme will replace the Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme (TWSS) from the 1st of September this year.

Proposals for the permanent pedestrianisation of several streets around Grafton Street have had an “overwhelmingly positive” response following trials in recent weeks, Dublin City Council has said. For the last three weekends, parts of South William Street, Drury Street, Dame Court, South Anne Street and Duke Street have been pedestrianised, with parking spaces turned into outdoor seating areas for cafes and restaurants.
