Musgrave MarketPlace has unveiled a new Food Emporium at Musgrave MarketPlace, Limerick, on Tuesday 11th August, following a €1.7m upgrade.

FFT.ie has reported that the transformation of the Limerick branch into a state-of-the-art Food Emporium forms part of a €12.6m total investment in the Musgrave MarketPlace brand over the past four years, as it continues to its wholesale operations despite the COVID 19 pandemic.

The new-look MarketPlace Limerick, located on Clare Street, has been designed with the customer in mind, serving local hotels, bars, restaurants, retailers and SMEs in the Limerick region. As well as adding over 220 new products to their current range of over 10,000 products, the branch now has a dedicated alcohol area with an enhanced product selection and an extended fresh produce aisle.

In line with Musgrave MarketPlace’s sustainability strategy, the new Food Emporium is designed to save energy and reduce carbon emissions. With the introduction of low power eco refrigeration and LED lighting, the Limerick branch has reduced its CO2 output by 99,420kg per annum, which is equivalent to the annual electricity required to run 60 homes.

Other new features at Musgrave MarketPlace Limerick include an upgraded click and collect offering, and a colour blocking system for easier navigation which aligns to maps on every trolley.

Opening the branch’s new Food Emporium were Ireland rugby star and Limerick native Seán Cronin and Managing Director of Musgrave MarketPlace, Michael McCormack.

Michael McCormack, Managing Director, Musgrave MarketPlace said: “The opening of our newly revamped Limerick Food Emporium marks another important milestone in our brand journey. We are investing significantly in our branches to create Food Emporiums within Musgrave MarketPlace which not only offer a first-class customer experience but also challenge the perception of the traditional cash-and-carry business.”

“Our brand essence; First for Service, First for Choice and First for Value, is at the core of everything we do, and we are focused on delivering our customers a first-class customer experience despite the challenging business environment.”

Michael McCormack said the upgrade has been a direct response to the changing needs of customers, that were not present ten years ago: “Our Food Emporium format gives our customers a greater range across all products from world foods to bespoke meat cutting in branch and crockery and equipment. Additional services available to our customers include a team of Product Specialists, a Trends Expert, dedicated chef skills masterclasses and retailer workshops.”
