Marco Beverage Systems, a global leader in commercial water and coffee systems with headquarters in Ireland has announced a partnership with the Nature Trust aimed at planting more native Irish trees. Marco has been manufacturing innovative and stylish beverage equipment since 1980 and in recent years has turned its focus to designing more energy-efficient and sustainable systems, such as the Marco MIX water boiler which is up to 70% more energy-efficient than leading competitors. Drewry Pearson, Executive Chairman for Marco said: “Marco is fortunate to partner with the Nature Trust in a uniquely Irish project which sequesters carbon, creates biodiversity, and provides community amenity. A win-win for all involved.”
The partnership marks the first Irish owned small/medium business to support the Nature Trust since its launch in 2020. Paul Stack, Managing Director of Marco said: “This is a very exciting initiative in which we are delighted to be pioneers. Partnering with the Nature Trust enables investment in a long-term project to promote and create biodiversity-friendly native woodland in Ireland. Hopefully we can be a beacon for other Irish SMEs as part of their earth-friendly efforts.” The Nature Trust is a not-for-profit company backed by State company Coillte and Forestry Partners aimed at planting new native woodland around Ireland. The Nature Trust and Marco align on their core values centred on innovation, care, integrity, and sustainability. The collaboration also marks a key step in Marco’s journey towards B-Corp certification; a designation that a business is meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Dr. Ciarán Fallon, Managing Director of the Nature Trust, and Director of Coillte Nature says: “The Nature Trust is delighted to be working with Marco, an Irish manufacturing company with excellent sustainability credentials exporting globally. As part of their wider sustainability commitments, Marco will be investing in the creation of new native woodlands at home in Ireland, which will provide a range of benefits including enhancing biodiversity and sequestering and storing carbon as well as providing natural spaces which will, in time, be open for the public to enjoy.” The partnership will see Marco supporting the Nature Trust to plant 1 hectare of native woodland. From the early phase these woodlands will support a wide variety of pollinating insects such as bees, butterflies, and moths, as well as some bird and mammal species. As the woodlands mature, they will continue to provide an environment for a variety of birds, plants, and animals to thrive. The woodlands will also be open access for public recreation, aiding overall health, well-being, and enjoyment for the surrounding community and beyond. Pictured L-R:
